Machine Head Retrospective (Part 5): Metal's Greatest Comeback Story! - RPC Jukebox #13
Last time on Renegade Jukebox, Machine Head had hit a critical and commercial low point with Supercharger, as Captain Kaye and Nick decimated it in their first negative episode. And now... the comeback of the century with Through the Ashes of Empires!
How’s it going, fellow Renegades? THE DIRECTOR is back to help set the stage for the next part in the on-going Machine Head retrospective… and man, we’ve got something special here.
If you recall, last time was um… kind of messy. Machine Head had just released Supercharger, and it was not good. Between the controversies and the other messes involved with the production and reception, it would have been enough to cripple any other act or entertainer for YEARS. Especially as there were now only three of the original members of the band left, AND they had broken away from their label Roadrunner after their last album. They needed to bite the bullet and change their trajectory, and it needed to happen fast, or their legacy would be left unfinished…
But something happened. They changed, and somehow came away with one of the all time best Rock albums of all time, with unprecedented success critically AND commercially, and it made them icons!
How does any band bounce back from such a devastating low to such a dizzying high? Well, you’ll have to listen to find out!
That’ll close the curtain for this episode! Special thanks to Jacob for editing this episode! Keep a zippo lighter raised up, as an encore of a podcast will be on stage very soon…
The Dirt: A Motley Crue Retrospective is back on Renegade Jukebox. This time Nick & Mike cover one of the albums they've ever made, Theatre Of Pain. Yeah that joke is played out, but it's going to get more plays than this album will. Listen to find out why!
The first Why We Love This Band of the year, and one in development for a long time! Nick and Mike are here to do an episode of Belgian death metal horror geeks Aborted. And the timing couldn’t be better with dropping their new album Vault Of Horrors. But obviously, they go over the entire catalog and how amazing their merch is. Also why they haven’t done a tour with Cannibal Corpse yet.
In this episode, Mike and Nick discuss the first album from Job for a Cowboy in 10 years, Moon Healer!
In this episode, Mike and Nick continue their journey through the discography of Motley Crüe, from the perspective of two metalheads who haven't heard the majority of their albums in full. They travel back to 1983 to discuss the band's 2nd studio album, Shout at the Devil!
Renegade Jukebox is back with another retrospective series. This time, instead of 1 mega star in Limp Bizkit, Nick and Mike are making one on 4 big cults of personality in the world of heavy metal. This series will go through each album by Motley Crue, from the perspective of two metalheads who haven't heard the majority of their albums in full. We begin with their 1981 debut, Too Fast For Love.
In this episode, Mike, Brock, and Bri are joined by former members Keona and Jacob for old times' sake. Buckle up, because there are no rails on this train!
On this episode of Why We Love This Band, remember when My Space deathcore took the world by storm? Well, Job For A Cowboy would rather you didn't (and we'd tend to agree). So Nick & Mike decide to mainly cover their 4 studio albums and why they've aged like fine expertly crafted death metal wine! And get some jabs in at Blue Ridge Rock Festival on the process!
Prepare yourself for a Dethpocalypse as Captain Kaye and the Super Saiyan Death Metal God return for another episode of the Renegade Jukebox! This time, our metalhead duo turn their critical eyes upon the latest album from the stars of Metalocalypse, Dethklok's Dethalbum IV! Raise your fists up and celebrate with us, Renegades!
In this episode, Captain Kaye and the Animation Guru are joined by the Super Saiyan Death Metal God, Nick, to discuss the Metalocalypse direct to video movie Army of the Doomstar!
Do you love rockin' guitar riffs? Do you love heavy metal? Do you love adult animation? Then step right up, because Captain Kaye and the Super Saiyan Death Metal God have you covered with volume 2 of Why We Love This Band, featuring the incredible musical stylings of Dethklok, stars of the Adult Swim animated series, Metalocalypse! Mike and Nick take us through the band's history, their favorite albums and songs, and have fun with a certain sound effect through this episode! Enjoy, my fellow metalheads!
