We Wish You a Merry Cline-mas! - A Renegade Free For All Holiday Special
Welcome, one and all, to a very special Renegade Holiday Special! The largest gathering of Renegade Pop Culture hosts ever got together to look back at the things we’re grateful for in this dumpster fire of a year. Even though 2020 has been objectively terrible, we still wanted to acknowledge the blessings we’ve all received and the positive aspects of our lives, even as we deal with a global pandemic, social and political unrest, and our personal trials. Join us for an epic holiday celebration!
Of course, one of the things we’re all very grateful for is Ernest Cline’s sequel to Ready Player One, appropriately titled Ready Player Two. Josh and Kristal bring us their epic criticisms in the podcast, and Cam, Mike, Brock, Tyler, and I sit in abject horror at the lack of restraint (to say the least) on display! Oh, Ernest Cline, don’t ever change! Keep on giving us ridiculous amounts of fanservice disguised as moderately readable prose!
Apart from that, I’d like to give everyone a quick rundown of the future of Renegade Pop Culture, both as a website and as a podcast. It’s been a pleasure for us to bring you all our perspectives and opinions on movies, games, comics, music, and animation, and we’re extremely grateful for all your support since we started this podcast in March. We hope you’ve enjoyed listening to our thoughts as much as we’ve loved sharing them with you!
As editor in chief, I know that our content has seen an ebb and flow over the past nine months, which is certainly something we could improve upon in 2021. I am personally making a promise that we will have a more regular schedule for our shows beyond Renegade Animation (formerly known as Tooned Up), which Cam and Mike have been doing a fantastic job of keeping to a consistent release schedule. Be prepared for more Renegade Arcade and Renegade Capes, our video game and comic book-related shows. More of the Renegade Mental Health Checkup, and much more Renegade Streaming Wars and film-related content is coming up, as well. Free For All shall continue, of course, as will Jukebox, and even more special episodes devoted to such properties as Batman, Star Wars, and of course, the DCEU and Zack Snyder’s Justice League director’s cut, and a few surprises along the way!
In short, there will be far more of the podcasts you love, and more written content for the site, as well. 2021 is going to be a huge year for us, and we can’t wait to bring you all along for the ride!
Finally, I’d like to thank you all for sticking with us as we’ve started this project and attempted to build it into something cool and fun to listen to! We love and appreciate our audience, and without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today! Thank you to our Facebook group members for sharing your opinions, thoughts, and memes with us! Thank you to our Twitter followers for keeping us on our toes and sharing our account and helping us build up our presence on social media! And thank you to those of you who subscribed to our podcast feed, whether you’ve found it through Apple Podcasts, Google, Anchor, Spotify, or anywhere awesome content is found! We are eternally grateful for your support and are happy to have you on board this wild ride with us!
Thank you to my co-hosts and teammates on the site, including my right hand guys, Mike and Josh, without whom this site would not exist. Cameron, Jacob, Kristal, Tony, Hayden, Tyler, Zayne, and Brock have kept me going when I’ve felt like giving up, and have added an immeasurable amount of life to the show and the site, and I am so sincerely grateful for their efforts! To my best friend in the world, Kirsten, who chipped in on our Buffy special earlier this year and has been my rock throughout this year. I’m so endlessly thankful for her support and friendship!
And lastly, thank you to all the artists, writers, directors, producers, game developers, musicians, and all the creative people in the world who have kept us dreaming, laughing, crying, and cheering throughout the years and especially during this pandemic. Their contributions to our lives cannot be overstated, and their work has left a legacy for us to admire and enjoy, even during the difficult times we face.
That’s all for this installment of the Renegade Free For All, my friends! Once more, thank you to all of you for listening, following, and reading our site! Happy Holidays to you all, and we’ll see you next time!
Special thanks to our main man, Kawaii Kyle, for editing this episode! He is, without a doubt, a true dude!
In this bittersweet episode of the Renegade Free For All, we bid farewell to one of the pillars of the podcast and website: Jacob, also known as the Streamin’ Demon. Join Mike, Josh, Kristal, Keona, and special guest Drake as we look back on Jacob’s time with the site, as well as the movies and TV shows that have been our lifelines in the past few months.
