RPC Podcast #7: Multi-Combo Free-For-All Discussion, part one
Hello, one and all, and welcome to a new show we’re premiering on the Renegade Pop Culture Podcast Network, the Multimedia Combo Free For All, presented by the 4 Among Us! (We refer to it as the Multi-Combo for short.) This week, Kristal, Josh, Mike, and Keona are joined by the one and only Jacob, our special guest from the Streaming Wars!
This week, we discuss Deadline’s report about AMC Entertainment’s current financial woes, and the possibility that the nation’s largest theater chain may not survive through the pandemic. At least, not without the help of a third party.
There’s a lot of older movie discussion this episode, as well. We talk about The Social Network, James Cameron’s Avatar, and even The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, which is obviously Robert Rodriguez’s finest hour as a filmmaker. I’m being totally serious here.
Be prepared for some movie watching confessions, as Mike reveals that he has yet to see the 2009 Avatar film, and Keona has deprived himself of the greatness of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Also, Cats. We discuss Cats. Go watch Lindsay Ellis’ video on that nightmare fuel.
And Batman v Superman comes up, particularly the “Martha” scene. If only Zack Snyder had done a better job of presenting that scene and line of dialogue. Well, the debate about whether the line works or not rages on, Renegades.
Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole also gets a lot of love from Josh this episode. Unfortunately, Kristal requires a bit more convincing as to the quality of the film.
We also talk about the Resident Evil 3 remake from Capcom, which I personally love, but many critics have been unimpressed by the game. The main criticism seems to be that the game is too short and not complex enough, especially compared to the previous RE2 remake Capcom released just last year.
Finally in this extremely random episode, we talk about The Legend of Zelda’s most horrifying moments, because we all need something to distract us from the ongoing pandemic. Might as well be Link’s pupil-less eyes. Geez, Nintendo.
