Wrasslin', Preorders, and Crystals - Free For All #6
Welcome back to the most electrifying podcast in the world of entertainment: The Free For All! It’s been a while since we did a free-flowin’ discussion about the things that interest us, so Mike, Brock, Josh, Kristal, and Keona sat down to chat about the Sony Playstation 5 preorder fiasco, the Microsoft Xbox Series S/X preorder kerfuffle, David Ayer’s Tax Collector film, Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance cancellation, a bit of wrestling news, the Beatles’ most famous songs, and so much more! Smash that play button!
Warning: There are some spoilers discussed in this episode, specifically about the Tax Collector film and Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series. You may wish to watch those before listening to this episode. Also, this episode was recorded on Sunday, September 27th, so some of the dates for the future episodes are a little off. But don’t worry, everything shall be posted.
So, this time around, I’m not going to waste everyone’s time running down the same topics we discussed on the podcast, since those kind of speak for themselves. Instead, I wanted to give you all an update as to the progress we’ve made since we started RPC almost seven months ago.
In a word, it’s been a wild ride! Okay, that’s three words. Although we’re nowhere near the state of perpetual viewership that the IGNs or Gamespots or, well, any of the bigger websites or Youtube channels have, we are doing pretty well for ourselves. This started out as my personal project, and has ballooned into something amazingly collaborative, and I’m so very grateful for all of the people who have helped me with the website, the podcast, and just generally in life since the site’s inception.
I have to also thank our special guest stars who have graced the show with their presence lately. These people are super-duper awesome, and I’d like to list them really quick: PJ Campbell and Evan DeGraff, our first podcast guests, came on board the third episode of Tooned Up and now head up the PJ Campbell Network Youtube channel, where they discussed the Beatles on their show, Suddenly Soundtracks (which we’ve embedded above), as well as their very own Patreon page; Michaela Lee, who was our very first guest interview and is an incredible cosplayer and actress; Millennial Mike, our guest co-host from The Exiles Network Podcast, who came on board with the Final Fantasy VII Remake spoilercast and has certainly brought a unique perspective to our X-Men retrospectives (here’s a link to the Exiles Network Patreon); Scott Christian Sava and Tony Bancroft, legendary animators, artists, and filmmakers who shared their wealth of wisdom with Mike and Cameron on Tooned Up; Travis Webb, who shared his experiences as an indie comic creator during our Starlite interview; and Blake J. Harris and Jonah Tulis, co-directors of the awesome Console Wars documentary (Harris wrote the book upon which the documentary is based), which is featured right now on CBS All Access. We’ll also be posting a special podcast interview with them later this week.
Of course, an extra-super-special thanks to the one and only Amy Acker, who was kind enough to let me and Josh geek out over being able to chat with her for nearly an hour! Amy is my personal favorite celebrity in the entire world, and not only is she a lovely and generous person, but she’s an astonishingly talented actress, writer, and director! It was my dream to meet her, and last year, just as I was preparing to move from Hawaii to Florida, she appeared at Comic-Con Honolulu, which is where I was lucky enough to see her in person. It’s truly incredible to meet someone you admire and have them live up to the image you have of them in your own mind, and that was certainly the case with Amy. She’s just wonderful, and she’s even helped the website grow as a result of the interview! So a big thank you to her, and to all of you for listening to that particular episode!
