Corey Taylor: CMFT Review - RPC Jukebox #2
Welcome to episode 2 of the RPC Jukebox! Join Mike and guest host Nick as they take us on a musical journey through Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor’s solo project, CMFT. It’s sure to be a far more eclectic collection of songs than we’ve seen from Taylor before, so without further ado, let’s hear Mike and Nick break the album down. Press that play button!
“Right from the start, I knew not to expect the record to bare any resemblance to either Slipknot or Stone Sour. With that being said, I’m mostly satisfied with what I heard. It’s refreshing to hear music that Corey enjoyed making, combining hard rock with blues, country, and on some tracks a little bit of punk. Among my favorite tracks are the opener “HWY 666,” “Samantha’s Gone,” “Meine Lux,” and “Culture Head.” It’s only the last three songs that don’t quite gel as much with the rest of the album, though I had fun with the idea of featuring Tech9ne and Kid Bookie on what’s essentially Corey’s theme song. Overall, if you’re a fan of Corey Taylor’s previous musical endeavors, then I’d recommend going into CMFT with an open mind.”
Well, there you have it! A different kind of album from Taylor, but still worth a listen if you’re a big fan.
