Gurren Lagann ep. 23, "Let's Go, This is the Final Battle" Review - Fresh Takes #22
Welcome back to another edition of Fresh Takes, starring our anime-loving dynamic duo, Mike and Brock! This time, they chat about Gurren Lagann episode 23, in which the team plans out their next move to find Nia and the Anti-Spiral homeworld, while Rossiu returns to a place from his past to face ultimate judgment! Let’s see ya grit those teeth and smack that play button!
There’s a lot to like in this episode of Gurren Lagann! I really love the Cathedral Terra ship design, as well as the final bit of downtime we’ll see before Simon and the gang head out into deep space to battle the Anti-Spiral forces and rescue Nia. Yoko’s latest outfit is, uh, something to behold, and the running gag where Leeron and the Spiral King’s talkin’ noggin keep dishing out extremely wordy and confusing sci-fi exposition while everybody else gets bored is hilarious!
Leeron continues to be the MVP in these final episodes.
It was cool to see Simon bust out an old lesson from Kamina as he belts Rossiu in the face! That was a big hit, but it certainly served to wake his former usurper up from his suicidal interlude. I’m very curious to see if Rossiu has to earn his redemption by giving his life to save others or something similar. Also, Viral is now fully a member of the team, which is odd, but awesome!
