Introducing: DC Defined! - Renegade Capes #11
Tonight, on a very special (in more ways than one) episode of Renegade Capes, we unite the crew to host the DC Defined special event!
On August 20th, all the way back in the 1930’s, a small start up company was created with the purpose of providing entertainment for people everywhere — to help people escape from the insanity and cultural stagnation that was prevalent in America during the Great Depression. That company was National Allied Publications… which would later become DC Comics.
No one would’ve guessed the seed that was planted back in 1934 would grow to the jungle that is the modern DC Comics landscape! As amazing as Marvel is, what makes DC so special is the grandiosity of the universe its created by and large. The fact that we have characters like the Batfamily, Superman, the Doom Patrol, and the Sandman… and they never once feel like they break the verisimilitude of the rules established by damn near a century of writers and artists who have come and gone over the years? It’s absolutely spellbinding!
So… we’ve all come together to do a special episode of Renegade Capes (and by all come together, I mean me - THE DIRECTOR - and Kay-Rah, Captain Kaye, OrganoidZero, The Streamin’ Demon, and even the long awaited return of our fearless leader Neoplasmic!) to celebrate everything DC!
And… we invite YOU!
After you listen to our episode, we have a WHOLE PLAYLIST of talented creators (including yours truly) who have made special videos about the things that make the company so crash! You can check them out here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_8K_mcoPa2AyPhElaQ4s_5h2K9UhXo5Q
In this exciting episode of Capes, Organoid Zero, Captain Kaye, and Neoplasmic discuss the recently announced James Gunn and Peter Safran-led DCU movie slate! Highlights of the soft reboot include a new version of the Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy, the debut of the Bat-family in The Brave and the Bold, Viola Davis’ return in the HBO Max series Waller, and the first big screen adaptation of Wildstorm’s The Authority.
