What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, and welcome to the third annual Renegade Animation Awards celebration! 2022 was a roller coaster year for the medium of animation, but for the most part Cameron and I wanted to focus on the positives for this episode. As far as the films and television shows released, I can say quite comfortably that last year was one of the best years for animation. We saw a variety of styles on display, from the continued innovation of CG animation inspired by 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to the reemergence of stop-motion animation from legendary filmmakers such as Guillermo del Toro and Henry Selick.
