Once Upon a Studio
This delightful little short film premiered alongside Encanto as part of The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC last weekend, as part of their Disney 100 special presentation. It’s amazing how much rich Disney history was packed into 9 minutes, featuring all of your favorite characters across 62 feature films, and countless animated short subjects.
“Whatever you think about Disney as a company and Walt as a person, this is a loving tribute to the many talented artists and creatives that brought 62 animated films to life and is also a loving farewell to one of the great Disney animators, Burny Mattinson.“ -The Animation Guru
Blue Giant
This movie should be essential viewing for music lovers, or anyone with a burning desire to achieve greatness. Admittedly, it's not the most groundbreaking narrative, but it's the frame that contains one of the best soundtracks of the year from acclaimed jazz composer and pianist Hiromi Uehara, paired with spectacular animation for each musical sequence.
“It feels so rare that we get films like Blue Giant in animation. A bittersweet enthralling musical drama about three friends who try to make it through the world of jazz. It feels special in a way that most films never truly earn that distinction. I like some films more than this one this year, but Blue GIant holds a special place in my heart in similar ways that Children of the Sea does, where it brings you into its world to let you swim along the spiritual stream that only jazz can give you.“ -The Animation Guru
