The Owl House Series Finale Discussion - Renegade Animation #102
In this episode, Captain Kaye and The Animation Guru share their thoughts on the final season of Disney's The Owl House!
What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, and this is a very bittersweet episode of Renegade Animation. On the one hand, I am glad that Cameron and I finally had the opportunity to talk about The Owl House again after missing our chance to cover season 2B while it was still on the air. However, the show has now reached the end of the road. There is much to be discussed regarding the terrible decision by Disney to cut the series short, and the lemonade made by the cast and crew as a result. So sit back, relax, and enjoy our final discussion of The Owl House on this podcast!
As of this writing, there are two ways one could experience the final season. On the official Disney Channel YouTube, each of the three specials have been edited together into one 2 1/2 hour long movie. Or, you can watch them individually on Disney+, where the entire series is now streaming. This isn’t the first, nor will it be the last series to fall victim to mishandling by network executives for what appears to be arbitrary reasons from the consumer perspective. It only hurts as much as it does for THIS series because of what Dana Terrace, the cast, and the crew have created throughout its entire run. These last 3 episodes are a great example of the team pouring everything they had into delivering a satisfying conclusion to the story that began in the pilot episode, “A Lying Witch and a Warden.” From stellar animation sequences, to plenty of fun callbacks to previous episodes, and incredible music from composer Brad Breeck, I couldn’t have asked for a better series finale under these circumstances.
“Even though this wonderful magical series got cut short by greedy executives, The Owl House was able to end on a powerful note that, to the best of its abilities, wraps everything up in an astounding and heart-felt way that cements it as one of the best cartoons of the 2020s.“ -The Animation Guru
