White Lie film interview: Directors Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas
Welcome to a very special episode of the Renegade Pop Culture podcast with Keona and Mike! We had the absolute pleasure of speaking to the filmmaking duo behind the indie drama/thriller White Lie, Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas! We dive deep into their history, influences, and the process of making the film, which turned out to be one of my personal favorite films of the year (though it technically came out in 2019 at TIFF). Thanks to Yonah and Calvin for taking the time to speak with us, and a very special thank you to Rock Salt Releasing for setting up the opportunity for us to discuss the film with them! Enjoy the episode!
This was a fast and fun interview, and I really like the energy that Lewis and Thomas bring to their direction and writing style. They’ve been working together for fifteen years, and you can really perceive the ease with which they communicate and how sympatico they are with each other. I find it fascinating that artists can often develop a kind of shorthand over time as they work towards a goal, and Thomas and Lewis definitely have that ability. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them and their production company, Lisa Pictures.

In case you missed it, here’s our review of the movie, and the podcast discussing the film itself, featuring Mike, Jacob, and yours truly!
Hopefully we’ll have more interviews like this one in the near future, and we once again show our appreciation and gratitude to Rock Salt Releasing and Calvin and Yonah for the opportunity to speak with them! And thank you for listening! Please subscribe to our podcast feed and follow us on your platform of choice, and let us know how we’re doing in the comments below! And remember, be safe and kind to each other! ‘Til next time, Renegades!

Greetings, fellow movie fans, and welcome to a very special episode of the Renegade Home Theater! Today Mike, Jacob, and Keona welcome a very special pair of filmmakers to RPC’s Remote Headquarters: Taylor Morden and Zeke Kamm, director and writer (respectively) of The Last Blockbuster documentary, which is currently streaming on Netflix! Yes, we know, it’s ironic. Alanis Morisette wrote a song about it once. Enjoy the episode!
