What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, alongside my esteemed co-host and editor, The Animation Guru, and we are excited to share this week’s episode! It is a little bittersweet whenever we’re discussing any series’ “final” season, especially one that we’ve enjoyed as much as this one. So without further ado, please tune into the podcast to hear the full discussion on the 2nd and finale season of The Ghost and Molly McGee!
Indie Spotlight: Wheels & Roses
This week’s Indie Spotlight is a pretty exciting one! We don’t have a full pilot episode yet, but we have a teaser for Wheels & Roses, created by Pearl Low, the co-founder of Orange Blossom Studios. If you’ve been craving a Sailer Moon-esque show about magical roller derby competitions, then you’ve come to the right place! Check out their Kickstarter for more information, and if you’re able to, consider donating to help them reach their goal by February 29th, 2024.
The Ghost and Molly McGee
Everything I loved about the first season carries over into the second, from its wonderful cast of characters, great sense of humor, and an amazing soundtrack full of original songs by Rob Cantor. Rather than rest on their laurels, Bill Motz, Both Roth, and the entire cast and crew brought their A-game to this material. I love the new additions to the cast, such as the Chen family, and Geoff’s afterlife partner Jeff, while Scratch gets one of the best character arcs in the entire series.
“While cut short for questionable reasons, the series still ends on a high note about a girl and a ghost who both learn to venture out there in life, make new friends, and explore the world they live on. It's also the studio's funniest animated series with some of the best comedy seen in animation in the 2020s so far.“ -The Animation Guru
