Heisting with Hilda! - Renegade Animation #4
Tonight, on a very low-key episode of Renegade Animation, Michael finally fulfills a promise made to Josh.
How’s it going everyone, welcome back to another episode of Renegade Animation, and it’s time to take things down a little bit. Cam and Mike sit back, and run through probably the shortest news cycle we’ve had on the show thus far, and just talk about two series today.
And as The Director, and for Michael, the Nagger, you could say I’ve been waiting a long time for this…
First off, the animation amigos tackle the as of this writing LAST SEASON of Great Pretender, and while I can’t say that I’ve seen the show myself, the themes that the show tackles and the story decisions that the season goes into kind of makes me want to watch it! I love heist stories as well as con-man stories (hell, hearing a character called the Confidence Man gave me warm flashbacks to Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom). I recommend giving it a watch, since there’s only two seasons.
But then that brings us to the second season of Hilda! This is monumental, because this goes all the way back to the very first episode of our old brand of Tooned Up, where I told Mike about it, and finally, as the second season came out, he and Cam gave it a watch! I’m honestly really happy that they seemed to dig the casual and calm vibe that Hilda has, as well as her endless optimism! Like I said on another episode where I did the notes, it along with Gravity Falls got me to open up more to modern animated shows, and I’ve been waiting on pins and needles for the second season for two years now! I still haven’t had a chance to watch the new episodes, but I HIGHLY recommend you renegades give it a watch! It’s a perfect - as they say in the episode - gateway show to what modern TV animation can bring!
